Young Redhead in an Evening Dress by ModiglianiI'm finally starting to feel human again after being sick for a while. We got a little workout at the Y today and caught the last half of the movie Modigliani with Andy Garcia. What a tragic figure! He was only 35 when he died, but he produced an amazing body of work under stark conditions of poverty and drug/alcohol addiction. His paintings, elegantly and finely structured, bring forth a sense of the artiste maudit, which he embodied. Very sad story.
